### How does OpenObserve compare to Datadog, Grafana, and Dash0?

All four cover logs, metrics, and traces. The differences are in licensing and pricing model. Datadog is closed source and bills per host, per custom metric, and per GB. Grafana Cloud is open core but splits signals across Loki, Mimir, and Tempo with separate query languages and per-seat billing. Dash0 is OpenTelemetry-native like OpenObserve, but it is closed source, cloud-only, and priced per signal. Both. The open-source edition and the Self-Hosted Enterprise edition (free up to 50 GB/day) run on your own infrastructure with your own object storage. OpenObserve Cloud is a fully managed option in US and EU regions. Datadog and Dash0 are cloud-only; Grafana can be self-hosted but requires operating several separate components.
